Sam and Greta Moore Endowment Announced

       Art and angling converged at the El Paso Museum of Art November 17, as the new Sam and Greta Moore Endowment was announced.

       “Fish Creek Afternoon,” a painting by native El Pasoan and nationally known sporting artist Eldridge Hardie, was unveiled during a reception. The painting was acquired by the El Paso Museum of Art Foundation through donations from friends of Sam and Greta Moore, including ScottHulse law firm and fly fishing buddies. The painting is now on loan to the museum.

       Sam and Greta More have been associated with the museum since its founding in 1960. The El Paso Museum of Art Foundation, established in 1998, benefits the museum. An Attorney by profession, Mr. Moore, has retired from his practice of law at ScottHulse but remains involved in the community.

       Scotthulse, one of the Southwest’s leading full-service commercial law firms, celebrated its 120th anniversary with a reception at the International Museum if Art.

       Founded in 1889 by W.H. Burges, ScottHulse represents individuals and major participants in the industrial and commercial sectors of the El Paso, Juarez, and Las Cruces borderplex.

       David Bernard is the chairman of Scotthulse, and senior partner Richard Feuille has been with the firm for more than 50 years.

ScottHulse Rceives MABA Diversity Award

       The El Paso Mexican American Bar Association (MABA) honored Rosemary Marin, attorney, and the ScottHulse law firm, by awarding them with a Diversity Award at the El Paso MABA 30th Anniversary Awards Banquet. The award was given to ScottHulse in recognition of their commitment to diversity.

       Ms. Marin began her career at ScottHulse as a shareholder and became a board member after one year at the firm. In addition, Marin is the first Hispanic female to become a shareholder and member of a board of directors at an El Paso defense firm. Ms. Marin is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She practices in the firm’s labor and employment, litigation and education law sections. Her practice encompasses a wide variety of claims and clients, including national, regional and local concerns. She represents management in all aspects of labor and employment law and
is a frequent presenter and author of employment-related publications and seminars.

Estate Planning Training
Offered to Insurance Agents

       David Hassler and Sarah Snook, attorneys at the ScottHulse law firm, recently presented an estate planning training class to insurance agents, on behalf of Futurity First Insurance Group.

       Mr. Hassler, a firm shareholder, and Ms. Snook, a firm associate, represent individuals and institutional clients in a variety of wealth transfer, preservation and taxation matters. Mr. Hassler is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and
a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Ms. Snook is a 2007 graduate of the University of Houston School of Law. During school she interned with the Ethics Service at the M.D. Anderson Medical Cancer Center. Prior to law school, Ms. Snook was a paralegal at a Houston employment law firm.

of Alzheimer's Association Star Chapter

       Mitchell Moss, a shareholder attorney at the ScottHulse law firm, was elected to a two-year term as chair of the Alzheimer's Association Star Chapter.  The Star Chapter provides services to Texas families covering a geographical area of 163,690 square miles from Amarillo to Corpus Christ, with the chapter headquarters located in El Paso.

       Mr. Moss practices in the Labor and Employment, Insurance Defense and Commercial Litigation groups of the ScottHulse law firm. He is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Henry Paoli Speaks at White Sands Missile Range

       Henry Paoli, a shareholder attorney at the ScottHulse law firm, was a featured guest speaker at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.  Mr. Paoli presented a speech regarding leadership perspectives from the civilian world.

       Mr. Paoli practices in ScottHulse's litigation, appeals, and construction law sections. He has experience in handling various types of commercial lawsuits, including breach of contract claims, construction claims, and business disputes.  He also advises construction companies, contractors, and real estate professionals. Yvonne Acosta Presents at Mother Daughter
Conference and Thomason Hospital

       Yvonne Acosta, an attorney at the ScottHulse law firm, recently spoke at the Mother Daughter Conference, held at El Dorado High School. Ms. Acosta spoke on Women in the Legal and Medical Professions. Ms. Acosta also recently spoke to the Thomason Hospital Healthcare personnel on Legal Issues and Documentation.

       Ms. Acosta practice's in the firm's labor & employment and litigation practice groups. She has 11 years of litigation experience and is a Master's Prepared Registered Nurse. She also has extensive experience handling various administrative matters, including charges before the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas.

       Currently, Ms. Acosta serves as the Vice President for the El Paso Women's Bar Association. She is a member of the Texas Association of American Nurse Attorneys, El Paso Bar Association and Mexican American Bar Association. She is a published author and a frequent presenter at legal workshops and seminars throughout the West Texas Region. Ms. Acosta received her J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law. Richard Munzinger is Featured Speaker
for Texas Bar Webcast

       Richard Munzinger, a shareholder with the ScottHulse law firm, was recently a featured speaker for the Texas Bar Books Webcast series, titled, "Defamation and Business Disparagement: Questions and Instructions." Mr. Munzinger discussed the continuing change and development in Texas law, including changes pertaining to the recently published Texas Pattern Jury Charges chapter on defamation and business disparagement.

       Mr. Munzinger serves on the Pattern Jury Charge Committee (Business, Commercial) which prepared Texas Pattern Jury Charges - Business, a book widely accepted by attorneys and judges as the most authoritative guide for drafting questions, instructions and definitions in commercial and defamation cases. Mr. Munzinger practices in ScottHulse's antitrust, commercial litigation, health care/hospitals and media and mass communication sections. He is a member of the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee.

       Oscar Ornelas, Casey Stevenson and Diana Valdez, associate attorneys with ScottHulse, P.C., were selected as "2009 Texas Rising Stars" by the Texas Super Lawyers and publishers of Texas Monthly and Law & Politics magazines.  Rising Stars are nominated by the Texas Super Lawyers as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers (40 years old or younger, or in practice 10 years or less) in Texas.  Only 2.5% of Texas attorneys are selected as Texas Rising Stars each year.

Mitchell Moss Appointed to the
Texas Board of Legal Specialization

       Mitchell Moss, a shareholder practicing in the Labor and Employment, Insurance Defense and Commercial Litigation group of the ScottHulse law firm, was selected by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization to serve on the Personal Injury Trial Law Advisory Commission.  The Advisory Commission's responsibilities include promoting the availability, accessibility and quality of attorney services related to personal injury law and to the public.

Names J. Sam Moore, Jr.,
Outstanding Museum Trustee for 2009

       Ruth Ann Rugg, Executive Director of the Texas Association of Museums (TAM), announced that J. Sam Moore, Jr., of El Paso, is the 2009 recipient of TAM's Jo Stewart Randel Outstanding Trustee Award.  Mr. Moore received the award and special recognition at the TAM Annual Meeting closing luncheon on Friday, March 20, at the Camino Real Hotel in downtown El Paso.  TAM Annual Meeting, the largest professional development event for museum personnel in Texas, convened in El Paso on March 17-20, 2009.  Michael Tomor, Director of The El Paso Museum of Art, states: "It is a great honor to have Sam Moore represent the dedication to the community through board citizenship.  The fact that he is from El Paso only underscores the reality of where El Paso is in the cultural arena of the Southwest, and why through our great patrons and supporters we able to reach such heights."

ABOUT J. Sam Moore, Jr.

       Mr. Moore currently serves on the board of directors of both the El Paso Museum of Art and the El Paso Museum of History.  His commitment to the development and growth of El Paso's cultural community stands out among his many accomplishments.  A resident of El Paso for some 50 years, Mr. Moore sought to establish and uphold standards of museum professionalism.  He oversaw the El Paso Museum of Art's national accreditation during his tenure as president of the board, 1973-1975.  An attorney by profession, Mr. Moore has retired from his law practice but remains involved with the community.

ABOUT THE AWARD

       TAM's Jo Stewart Randel Outstanding Trustee Award recognizes excellence and distinguished contributions by a volunteer trustee to museums in Texas.  Presented each year at the Annual Meeting of the Texas Association of Museums, this award spotlights one outstanding trustee whose visionary leadership has made a significant impact on the museum he or she serves.  The award is named in honor and memory of Jo Stewart Randel (1915-2002), an exemplary museum trustee from the Texas panhandle.
