Our six-week Summer Associate program takes place at our El Paso, Texas, office on a yearly basis between May and July. The program is traditionally available to students who have completed their second year of law school. However, students who have completed their first year, and show exceptional aptitude, are considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Summer Associate program is designed to expose law students to the actual practice of law at ScottHulse. During the summer, students work on real legal issues alongside the Firm's shareholders and associates. Summer Associates are assigned both a supervising shareholder and an associate attorney as mentors for the summer. These mentors work closely with each clerk to ensure that he or she receives quality work assignments in their area of interest.

As a Summer Associate, I found that ScottHulse is committed to spending time and resources to develop young attorneys. I discovered that I was comfortable working with the attorneys at the Firm, that I enjoyed the types of work I would be doing as a new associate, and that El Paso is a great place to live.
Sarah A. Snook
Associate

ScottHulse has numerous key practice areas and offers Summer Associates an opportunity to gain experience in a number of different areas of law. Assignments are available for general business, labor and employment, and litigation. For those Summer Associates who have not yet decided on a particular area of law, general assignments are also available.

Throughout the course of the program, professional activities such as depositions, trials, mediations, negotiations, business transactions and client meetings are available for Summer Associates to attend.

In addition, Summer Associates are provided opportunities to become acquainted with Firm attorneys and their families outside the traditional office setting. ScottHulse holds numerous summer events including dinner parties at attorney homes, happy hours, a firm golf tournament, a scavenger hunt, and several tours of El Paso and New Mexico areas of interest.
