As an attorney in ScottHulse's Construction Law practice group, Melissa Moreno has advised and represented owners, contractors, and engineers in public and private construction. Ms. Moreno's experience also includes various types of commercial disputes, including breach of contract claims and fraud claims.
Ms. Moreno was voted El Paso's Outstanding Young Lawyer for 2011. Ms. Moreno currently serves on the Board of Directors for the El Paso Young Lawyer's Association. She is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, El Paso Bar Association, El Paso Young Lawyer's Association, Mexican American Bar Association, El Paso Women's Bar Association, and Texas Association of Defense Counsel. She is also a member of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry and the Texas State Bar's Construction Law Section. With respect to Ms. Moreno's activities in the community, Ms. Moreno was selected as a participant in the Leadership El Paso Class XXXIII, sponsored by the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce. She was a Reading Tutor for El Paso Independent School District HOST/READ (Helping One Student to Succeed) Program, 2009-2010.
Ms. Moreno attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. Ms. Moreno received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she was Articles Editor of Volume 41 of the TEXAS TECH LAW REVIEW and a Teaching Fellow for the first year Legal Practice course. While in law school, Ms. Moreno received the CALI Award for Legal Practice I and Jurisprudence Awards for Superior Academic Achievement in Legal Practice II, Business Entities, and Advanced Advocacy Skills in Moot Court.
