Desiree Duarte is an associate attorney at ScottHulse whose practice focuses on litigation, general labor and employment law, and construction law. She has represented a wide variety of clients, including public entities, owners, general contractors, subcontractors, commercial enterprises, employers, and insurance companies.

Desiree Duarte earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin with Pro Bono Honors. She was a member of the Texas Hispanic Journal of Law and Policy, a board member of the Chicano/Hispanic Law Student Association, and a scholar in the Criminal Defense Clinic and Actual Innocence Clinic. While in law school, Ms. Duarte clerked for the Honorable Miguel Torres at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Prior to law school, Ms. Duarte graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a minor in Legal Reasoning. She is also a graduate of the UTEP Law School Preparation Institute. During her undergraduate studies, she interned for Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, was a congressional intern for the Office of Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children.

Born and raised in El Paso, Ms. Duarte attended Chapin High School. Her first job was working at her father’s local construction company, Mimbela Contractors, Inc., where she learned the value of hard work and learned about the legal complexities of running a business and participating in construction, which has inspired her legal practice.
