ScottHulse Welcomes Summer Law Clerks

EL PASO, TX – ScottHulse PC welcomes David Berta, Diego Soto, Alex Lopez Lena and Katie Beasley to the Firm’s Summer Associate Program. The six-week program gives law students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in different areas of law.

Before moving to New Mexico for law school, Katie Beasley spent 10 years in Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan, working in social work, nonprofit, and higher education roles. Katie greatly enjoyed her handful of visits to El Paso over the past year. Last spring, she spent a week in the city participating in a Border Justice Intensive elective through her law school, during which she had the opportunity to meet Susanna Visconti, an attorney at ScottHulse.

David Berta did not initially plan to pursue a legal career, turning to law only in recent years. After returning to academia, he earned a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Toronto. During his undergraduate studies, he founded a gym where he applied his academic training to coaching and conditioning professional hockey players. He now brings that analytical and business-oriented experience to his legal studies, with a strong interest in corporate and commercial transactions and a desire to deepen his understanding of business activity in the Borderplex region.

Alex Lopez Lena is a second-year law student at Texas A&M University School of Law. Born in Mexico City, he moved to Texas during middle school, where he learned English through ESL coursework—an experience that shaped his academic development. He has a younger brother who is also pursuing a legal career and is currently focused on his legal studies and professional growth.

Diego Soto is a second-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center with a strong interest in litigation and advocacy. Prior to law school, he attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where he participated in the Early College High School program and the Law School Preparation Institute. He currently serves on the executive board of the Latinx Law Student Association and previously worked as a Civic Ambassador for the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life.
