Associate Attorney – Labor & Employment

ScottHulse PC, a well-established, AV Preeminent Rated commercial law firm headquartered in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico serving the West Texas, Mexico and Southern New Mexico Borderplex, is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney with 2+ years of substantive experience in L&E matters, including litigation.

This is an opportunity to be an integral member of one of the region’s leading labor and employment practice teams, which provides a full spectrum of L&E legal and advisory services to local, regional and national employers in both the public and private sectors. Key areas of our comprehensive representation and service include preventive advice and training; regulatory compliance matters; litigation; alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration; organized labor issues; and changes in ownership and reductions in workforce, to name a few.

L&E associates work directly with the Chair of the practice group, who is also a member of the Firm’s board. The associate who is hired for this position will be challenged and rewarded by an accelerated learning track with immediate hands-on client contact, which provides an opportunity to grow quickly. The successful candidate will have management defense side experience with legal research, analysis and drafting of complex memoranda, motions and briefs in the context of employment disputes. Ideal candidates will also have strong employment litigation skills, including trial and pre-trial experience, as well as experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions and counseling clients on employment issues.

Outstanding academic credentials and excellent written and oral communication skills required. Texas Bar required; New Mexico Bar a plus. A federal district court or circuit court of appeals clerkship is also a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish skills and ties to El Paso are desirable.
